Infertility: Men and Women

Why hypnotherapy helps within a programme of Fertility Treatment for men and women.

A fabulous time in our lives is the decision to start a family and yet when
conception is not happening, the stress, inward disappointment and anxiety start
or increase. Medical advice is sought and tests are run.
According to Prof Eliahu Levitas’s team from Soroka Hospital in Beersheva,
hypnosis can double the success of IVF treatment. Levitas’s study of 185
women found that 28% of women in the group who were hypnotized became
pregnant, compared with 14% of those who were not.

When we have stress or chronic underlying stress, perhaps coming from
childhood, the adrenal gland omits the stress hormones to protect and prepare
body from danger. That danger in the modern world can be work related issues,
the gas bill, peer pressure, family issues and so on. The question is does
infertility cause stress or does stress cause infertility?

In a study done :- ‘the most recent research has documented the efficacy of
psychological interventions in lowering psychological distress as well as being
associated with significant increases in pregnancy rates.

So there is a mixture of both – pre-stressors and related stressors and this relates to
men and women. Often thought that the problem lies with women, but increasingly
sperm counts are showing year on year to be reducing due to environmental factors and
the hectic pace of life.

Happy Couple Ready to Start a Family

Infertility affects men and women equally. In couples experiencing infertility,
approximately 35% is due to male factors, 35% is due to female factors, 20% of
cases have a combination of both male and female factors, and the last 10% are
unexplained causes. ( https://rmanetwork.com/blog/male-infertility-cases-and-statistics/)
In hypnotherapy the relaxation techniques not only help to reduce the release of
stress hormones, but has a physiological benefit of releasing tensions around the
pelvic zone: this allows better blood and lymph flow. Also as a medical
herbalist and qualified in food intolerance testing, should the need arise, I will
test for food that causes inflammation, vitamin deficiency, and use herbs that
are specific for the client and that are not contra-indicated in any ongoing
medical protocols.
